Planting Trees for Our Children
By redeeming their codes on Treecycler, the public can help the MFC plant trees for our children on Mississippi’s school trust land.
The Mississippi Forestry Commission (MFC) sustainably manages 485,000 acres of forested school trust land, which generates over $20 million annually for Mississippi’s school boards. These funds are reinvested into the school districts where they are earned to directly benefit the children attending those schools. The MFC partners with Treecycler to help extend the reach of reforestation activities on school trust lands. Treecycler allows users to donate money toward tree-planting projects by redeeming codes found on product packaging, in the mail, or online. The codes can be redeemed for the MFC’s project, “Planting Trees for Our Children” by visiting: http://bit.ly/TreecyclerMFC
The MFC’s objective of the Treecycler campaign is to assist reforestation on school trust lands with the funds received. “Our goal is to sustainably maximize timber sale revenue on school trust lands by applying a more intensive timber management process,” said Charlie Morgan, State Forester. “These funds directly benefit the local school districts and the children attending those schools.”
By redeeming their codes on Treecycler, the public can help the MFC plant trees for our children on Mississippi’s school trust land, ensuring a sustainable funding source for the schools in those areas. Sustainable forest management of forested school trust land provides continued timber sale revenue for future generations of school children in Mississippi.
