Mississippi Arbor Day

Arbor Day became an official day of observance in Mississippi in 1926 and is celebrated on the second Friday in February each year. For Arbor Day 2026, Governor Tate Reeves proclaimed Friday, February 13, as Arbor Day and February 13–19 as Tree Planting Week.

Each year, the Mississippi Forestry Commission selects a host city for the statewide Arbor Day Celebration. In 2026, the event was held in Crystal Springs.

2027 Arbor Day Events, Tree Giveaways & Sales

Looking ahead to 2027, the Mississippi Forestry Commission will have a limited number of tree seedlings available for distribution at local Arbor Day celebrations. Requests for these seedlings must be submitted to the Partnership Coordinator for your area by the end of October 2026.

Additional Arbor Day celebrations, tree sales, and giveaways sponsored by local municipalities and organizations are held throughout the state.
